Green Mountain Valley School
Junior Development Mount Hood Summer Ski Camp When: June 22 ‐ July 3, 2012 Where: Mount Hood, Oregon For Whom: Alpine ski racers; J3/J4/J5 athletes
Philosophy: At the Green Mountain Valley School we believe that summer training camps should utilize on‐snow time efficiently and effectively, allowing campers to practice and master ski racing techniques. We strive to promote the athlete’s own love and excitement for the sport of ski racing while simultaneously instilling the principles of hard work, discipline and competition. We believe that athlete participation in quality off‐snow activities is equally important. Each afternoon we organize fun and instructional ski‐specific dry land exercises and events.
Emphasis: We focus on the fundamentals of skiing and ski racing, including GS andSL technical progressions and tactics. Athletes will learn and practice technical drills/skills, gate train and free ski throughout the session. Through extensive video analysis we provide daily feedback, helping athletes reachtheir greatest potential. Coaches will hold clinics on the latest ski tuning techniques. Athletes will have an opportunity to test 2012‐2013 equipment.
Camp Schedule: 8 days of on‐snow training sessions, separated by 2 full activity days of camper choice: mountain biking, rock climbing or an indoor soccer challenge. The first three days of on‐snow instruction will concentrate on free skiing and technical drills/skills, utilizing the U.S. Ski Team’s on‐snow skills progression. During the next two days, we will focus on GS tactics and technique. Slalom technique and tactics will be taught the last three days. On the final day we will hold a fun slalom race for all campers and finish the day free skiing with coaches and friends. A cookout and awards ceremony for the entire camp will conclude the day.

Housing: Housing is included in the camp tuition. Athletes stay in coach‐supervisedhouses 20 minutes from Mount Hood in Welches, Oregon. Each house holds between 6 and 10 athletes and two staff members. Houses are arranged by gender and age to provide appropriate, comfortable accommodations.
